As Art Director on this project, I wanted to ensure that the project was empowering children to creatively express their imagination. The overall feel to the digital artwork needed to reflect a children’s idea of habitats and ecosystems if they were to cut and stick one together.
Through this project, we inspired hundreds of thousands of children to visit museums and respond creatively to the environmental challenge.
The Wild Escape saw hundreds of museums and schools collaborate together in a celebration of UK wildlife and creativity. Launching on Earth Day, children were invited to explore and discover nature in museum collections, bringing their chosen creature to life with their own creativity and following their escape to a thriving ecosystem.
Putting the child’s creativity front and centre, the art tool allowed children to capture and digitise their created creatures, breathe life into them and release them from institutions across the UK into a digital biodiverse ecosystem to wander alongside the creations made by other children.
“The Wild Escape is a real demonstration of the power of our museums to work together for the benefit of their communities.”
